Martin's Station
As a reenactor involved with colonial American history, I have the great privilege, from time to time, of temporarily inhabiting some of our country's most wonderful historic sites. During specific events, I take on the role of Cornelius Doghearty and immerse myself in the life of the place at an earlier time. Perhaps my favorite of all these sites is the recently constructed replica of the backwoods fort known as Martin's Station. Martin's Station was originally built as a way station to protect and shelter travelers and settlers passing through the Cumberland Gap in the years during and after the American Revolution. Located (now) at Ewing, Virginia in Wilderness Road State Park. You will not find a more authentic fort in a prettier setting anywhere in the world.
Other places I go to play are (click the links):
Fort Loudoun, Tennessee
Fort Toulouse, Alabama
Fort Dobbs, North Carolina
Fort Boonesborough, Kentucky
Fort King George, Georgia
Fort Yargo, Georgia
Wormsloe Historic Site, Georgia
Fort de Chartres, Illinois
